The Great War
The land soon found itself in another predicament. With the fall of the Dwarves, Illerin was gaining strength. Forcing his way through the Great Eastern Gates, he began his conquest of the continent, and attempted to enslave the other races under his command.
The races of the world, in dire straights from the lies of a Halfblood who had attempted to start a World War, soon found themselves having to battle Illerin's forces. As the Human and Jillecai forces took heavy casualties, the Dragons came, forcing back the Undead into the Great gates, and then sealing them closed with their dragonfire.
Explaining that they had one year to prepare, the Great Dragon left to gather his people in a final defense.
Two adventurers, during all of this, went to the Western Trade Tunnels of the dwarves, which led directly to the Great Forge, the only place on earth enchanted to be able to work with Mythril and Runes both. They managed to find some great supplies and weapons, but one of the made a fatal mistake.
Breaking the seal on the Forgegates, the Undead swarmed through. Illerin himself led the attack, and infected Allaira, the Dragoness, with his corruption. Escaping and collapsing the tunnels behind them, Allaira and Vecna, the Jillecai Oathkeeper, managed to seal the Forge from the outside, but at a great cost; with the souls of the dead Forgemasters at his command, Illerin could forge great blades for his army; and because that was the only thing that kept the remaining dwarves alive, it spelled certain doom.
Using her blood to bind herself to Allaira, who happened to be the Great Dragon of Thunder's daughter, she caught the eye of Dragonius, the Great Dragon of Thunder himself. Aiding her vow and giving her power, he kept his eye on her.
The war began at the end of the year, with the dwarves tunneling through the collapsed Trade Tunnel and led by Vecna and her allies, the Scholar, Cryterin, and the Halfblood, Pet'er. Continuing what she began, she led the dwarves deep into the forge. The Dwarves managed to fight off the Forgemasters and the Undead there, and sealed the gates.
Then, the Dwarves saw a single undead who managed to escape the amssacre. they recognized it immediately as an Avatar, and began to run. The Avatar called upon Illerin, bringing him into the world.
Cryterin, knowing nothing else could defeat the Old One, called upon the Ancient of Flame, giving his soul in the process to save his friends. The Ancient and Old One battled, and the Ancient won.
The Avatar dropped a single black diamond, the diamond flying off into the darkness. Pet'er, looking to gain power, grabbed the Diamond, but fell to Illerin;s corruption, and became a Corrupted Dragon.
Taking his deadly claws, he broke the seal once more, and destroyed the Forgegates completely. As the undead began pouring in, Pet'ers corrupted form destroyed the freshly-excavated Trade Tunnel, trapping Vecna and the Dwarves inside.
Knowing this was their final hour, the Dwarves charged. Suddenly, time froze around Vecna, and Dragonius appeared.
What came next will forever be remembered by the Dwarves who fought that day... he knelt on one knee, and declared his love for Vecna.
Accepting is request, Vecna began a metamorphosis, transforming her into a Dragon. Taking his blade, Halniir, Dragonius turned to the Undead scourge.
The undead where massacred by the raw fury of the Great Dragon. Not even Pet'er's corrupted form could stand against him. When the dust settled, Dragonius motioned towards the dwarves, giving them his power for an hour, to save their brethren. The Dwarves ran off, fighting any Undead they could and decimating them, and made it to the Caves, where their brothers and sisters were hiding.
Leading them to battle, they managed to push back the forces from the Gates, where they soon found Dom'natar, leading his Goblin horde. With the help of the Goblins, the Dwarves managed to destroy the Undead, leading to a new time for their people.
Meanwhile, in the East, the gates burst open, and the forces of Illerin charged into battle. The armies of the Elves, Humans, Jillecai, and Dryads formed one massive army, with the Dragons swearing to handle the dreaded Dracoliches.
The battle waged for three days, never stopping, until at last, the Undead were vanquished, and the Great gates were cleaned of the taint. Forcing their way through and taking the fight to Illerin, the armies of the world converged on the Dwavren city just in time to see Dom'natar be killed by the Lich, Immeranai, who also died.
Using their forces to destroy the remaining Undead in the city, they soon saw that the massive Great Palace was impenetrable, thanks to Illerin's corruption. Using runes from the olden times of the Empire, the Dwarves sealed the Palace, and finally cheered. Illerin was defeated, his hordes crushed, but at the cost of an entire race; the Goblins, and a great hero, Dom'natar.
