Eternity's Creation
First, there was the Void.
Then, came the Ancients.
No one knows what they looked like, why they came, or where they came from, but one thing was certain; they were powerful.
Taking parts of their own essence, they formed the planet of Lerai, twelfth planet from the Sun, Neriya. When they saw that the planet was barren, they used more of their own essence to form the first life on the planet, giving it the breath of creation.
And then came the Great Dragons.
Seven godlike dragons of amazing power and strength, the Great Dragons aided the Ancients in creating the world, and offered them a deal; they would watch over their creation if they would give them a piece of their essence.
The Ancients agreed, and bestowed the gift of immortality to the Great Dragons and their offspring, giving them the power over time itself. The Ancients also gave the Great Dragons the knowledge of how to create the Crystals, great objects of power that held the magic and strength of the Great Dragons themselves. The Great Dragons used the Crystals, imprinting portions of themselves on the Crystals, and scattered them around the world to further their union with the world of Lerai.
Before they left, the Ancient realized that the world was out of balance, and the world needed as much darkness as there was light. Taking their essence once more, they breathed life into them and named them the Old Ones, Malica, Goddess of Darkness, Neriten, God of War, Jeratal, God of Destruction, and Illerin, God of Death.
Placing these four new immortals on the surface of the planet, they departed Lerai, going back to the place that they had come, please with what they had wrought.
